Scope and Contents

The collection of the Bowling Green Community Foundation begins with its founding in 1994. The materials within the collection chart the early beginnings of the Foundation and its development into a fully-fledged funding organization. Later documents illustrate the day-to-day actions of running a successful foundation.

The items from the first seventeen years of operation—meeting minutes, by-laws, correspondence, reports, and Deeds of Gift—show how the Foundation grew from a desire to fulfil a need within the community. These early records can be helpful to researchers and can also benefit those who are interested in working in the non-profit sector.

Organization History

The Bowling Green Community Foundation was founded in 1994 and has been providing funding to the community ever since. Supported entirely by donations and endowments, the Foundation is a non-profit corporation that works with the Toledo Community Foundation but maintains control of fundraising and distribution as an independent entity.

The Foundation provides funding for a variety of Bowling Green community members and organizations. It provides scholarships, grants, sponsorships, and other monetary assistance. All funds raised by or donated to the Foundation are used to benefit the community and its members.
