Biographical / Historical

In the Summer of 1898, the Catholics living in Cloverdale built their first church with hopes of finding a priest to served them. Later that year, Cloverdale became a Mission of Ottoville. The parish received their first resident pastor in 1900. His name was Father Henry Wickmann. In 1958, the parish completed their present church. It was built to accommodate the growing membership of the congregation. In 1976, St. Barbara Catholic Church began serving the Mission of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Continental. Currently, the parish is a sister parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church in North Creek and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Continental.
