Biographical / Historical

Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, North Baltimore, Ohio started in 1891 as a station of Bowling Green, Ohio. In 1892, Father W. S. Kress saw the need to establish a church. He first rented an Opera House where mass was celebrated. Construction of a church began in July, 1892. It was completed in December of the same year. The church was called St. Augustine Church.

Deshler, Hamler and Cygnet missions were later established. St. Augustine Church burned twice, first on October 18, 1929 and then on February 27, 1930. A second church was built on November 27, 1930 and renamed the Church of the Miraculous Medal of Our Blessed Lady. Deshler and Hamler missions were subsequently incorporated into the St. Louis Catholic Church, Custer, Ohio parish while the Cygnet mission remained a station of North Baltimore.

After July 1, 2001 the parish combined and was renamed Holy Family Catholic Church.
