Genealogical information submitted to the Ottawa County Chapter, Ohio Genealogical Society to prove that an ancestor was living in Ottawa County as a pioneer prior to 1840, as a settler between 1841 and 1860, or as a centennial resident 1861-1884; includes birth and death certificates, marriage records, and tombstone inscriptions.

Scope and Contents

Any person who is a member in good standing of the Ottawa County Genealogical Society may be included in the roster of First Families of Ottawa County by proving that he or she is descended from one or more individuals who settled within the present boundaries of Ottawa County prior to or as of the dates established by these three categories:

Pioneer, 1840 and before Settler, 1841-1860 Century, 1861-1884

The applicant must complete an application form showing his or her ancestor(s) and fill in the blanks of the chart on the reverse side of the application form which are pertinent to his or her descent from said ancestors. This microfilm edition preserves the information submitted and accepted for membership.
