Biographical / Historical
On March 7, 1915, Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral Parish formed from portions of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, St. Ann and St. Patrick parishes. The Holy Rosary Cathedral is located on Collingwood Avenue in Toledo, Ohio and was built in 1914. It was originally built for the parish of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. On August 16, 1920, a flood destroyed the Cathedral. Work began on the new Cathedral in 1925 and it was completed in 1931.
In 1940, Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral was dedicated and became the Cathedral of the Diocese. Previously St. Francis de Sales was the Cathedral of the Diocese.
The membership of Cathedral Parish grew steadily from 1941 through 1962. After 1966 membership declined due to families moving to new parts of the city and neighborhoods changing.
