Biographical / Historical

Gesu Catholic Church was found in 1920. It was named for the Jesuit Church of Gesu in Rome. Masses were offered at the Chapel of the Visitation Monastery until 1923, when the first combination church - school was built. The first pastor of Gesu Catholic Church was Father Charles Jansen.

To alleviate the overcrowded conditions in the church, a new one was built in 1941. A third church was built in 1956 and is still in use today.
