Scope and Contents
The material in the collection was compiled by Jim Gordon while working on the photo-story “BG’s Big Hockey Buildup” for The Blade Sunday Magazine that ran in its February 23, 1969 edition. According to Gordon, he came up with the idea for the story and pitched it to the newspaper. Highlights from the collection include handwritten notes of Gordon’s interview with Jack Vivian, and photographs and negatives of the team and Jack Vivian during games and practices. There are also images of the hockey team enjoying Thanksgiving dinner at the Vivian house in November 1968 (photographs are arranged numerically by original catalog numbers assigned by Jim Gordon).
Researchers interested in Jack Vivian and the history of BGSU hockey will find this collection useful.
