Scope and Contents

The records of the Sun Grain Association, Risingsun, Ohio, consist primarily of minutes. The Board of Directors minutes (1912-1949) outline the business conducted by the company. Unfortunately, the minutes are not detailed; of much more use to the researcher would be the operating reports given at these meetings. These reports, however, are not included in this collection. Also of interest are the minutes of the annual stockholders meetings (1913-1953). These minutes also just outline the business conducted without providing great detail.

The articles of incorporation and original constitution/bylaws establish the procedures by which the company operates. The stock registers (1912-1954) provide a listing of stockholders and the amount of stock sold. Overall this collection documents in a general manner an early-established and long-running grain elevator association.
