The records of the Jolly Ridgers Farm Bureau Advisory Council provide a glimpse of the Pemberville area agricultural community. Guided by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, the group met to discuss issues relevant to the local farms and farm families.

The Jolly Ridgers Farm Bureau Advisory Council was established on April 22, 1949.

From the website of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation: "Farm Bureau's greatest strength lies in its grassroots approach to policymaking and problem solving. Community councils are the foundation of this process. Councils are groups of couples and singles that meet regularly to develop camaraderie and community while discussing farm and family topics. The council program began in 1936, and currently there are more than nearly 400 community councils in the state. The community council program is unique to Ohio, and media and legislators often take note of council feedback."

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Jolly Ridgers Farm Bureau Advisory Council Collection was transferred to the Center for Archival Collection through the cooperation of Randy Brown of the Wood County Historical Society.
