Scope and Contents
The range of activities and interests displayed in the materials in this collection include the typical duties of a minister in the first half of the 20th century, with notices of weddings and funerals at which Lonzo Green officiated. Also hinted at in the papers is Green's interest in local religious history, particularly in a series of inquiry letters sent to various Ottawa County, Ohio churches as he was doing research for a proposed monograph on religious developments in Ottawa County in the 19th century. Other research notes seem to be related to background material to be used for sermons or Bible study classes, and reviews written for book clubs in which he participated. Also in the area of local interests, Green was the author of a compiled history, "Tales of the Buckeye Hills," published in 1963, although there is no material in this collection directly related to that book.
