The Fremont Building and Loan Company was established in Fremont, Ohio on 14 March 1907 by incorporators Barney Joseph, Lewis S. McGormley, Jacob Youngman, August Lieber, and James G. Hunt. The company was established “for the purpose of raising money to be loaned among members and depositors for use in buying lots, building and repairing houses and all other purposes incident thereto, and carrying on and conducting all business authorized by law to be carried on or conducted by a Building and Loan Association or Company.” The company was in existence at least through 1940, as it was mentioned in the 1940 publication “Fremont and Sandusky County,” compiled by workers of the Writers' Program of the Works Progress Administration.
