Scope and Contents

The Andrie Ashenfelter Drum Papers consist of research material compiled by Andrie Drum related to the history of her family. Represented families include: Ashenfelter, Claybaugh-Beckett, Conrad, Detwiler, Juillard, and Krapf families. Included in the collection are genealogical research files relating to branches of the family; legal documents such as land records and births, marriages, and deaths; newspaper clippings; books written by various members of the family; and photographs.

Biographical / Historical

The materials in this collection were compiled by Andrie O. (Ashenfelter Kertz) Drum (1923-2006). Andrie was born on August 10, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio. She was the daughter of Jess B. and Daisy L. (Treat) Ashenfelter and at four years old was adopted and raised by her paternal aunt, Ola and her husband, Joseph Kertz. She had six brothers and two sisters: Jess, Bob, Chuck, William, Harvey, Bill (Cook), Jeanette (Gritzmaker), and Frances (Lewis).

Andrie graduated from West Unity High School. She married Lawrence A. Drum in 1941 and had four children: Shannon, Deanna, Stanley, and Sue. She had nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She died on April 12, 2006 in Toledo.
