Biographical / Historical

Bowling Green State University’s chapter of the Golden Key Honor Society was chartered on April 23, 1983. It was the 34th chapter established by that organization. Golden Key was initially created in 1977 as the Golden Key National Honor Society, but is now known as the Golden Key International Honour Society. In 1991 the BGSU chapter won the Most Improved Chapter award.

According to the parent organization’s website: “Golden Key is the world's largest collegiate honor society. Membership into the Society is by invitation only and applies to the top 15% of college and university sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as top-performing graduate students in all fields of study, based solely on their academic achievements.” The organization also includes honorary members – individuals in the community or on campus who display the characteristic of education, campus and community involvement, and leadership.
