The scrapbooks, scrapbook materials, photo album comprising the Frances Wolf Galloway Papers document her life while at Bowling Green State University between 1945 and 1949. The James Galloway loose documents and Wood County Sesquicentennial also included in the Frances Wolf Galloway Papers provide additional insight into the life of Frances Galloway and her long-term connection to Bowling Green State University.

The scrapbook from her freshman year (June 1945 – June 1946) is most complete and is comprised of organizational programs, sporting event programs, sorority/fraternity invitations, student records including her acceptance and tuition waiver letter.

The loose documents that encompass Frances Galloway’s sophomore year (September 1946 – May 1947) include sporting event programs, theatre programs, Delta Gamma programs and papers. The materials that encompass the sophomore years are much less detailed than the freshman year scrapbook.

The loose documents that represent Frances Galloway’s junior year (November 1947 – May 1948) include sports schedules, theatre programs, Greek event programs, Greek event invitations, Ashland College Music Senior Recital program. The materials that encompass the junior years are much less detailed than the freshman year scrapbook.

The loose documents that represent Frances Galloway’s senior year (October 1948 – May 1949) include music/theatre programs, organizational programs, and graduation/honors assembly programs. The materials that encompass the senior years are much less detailed than the freshman year scrapbook.

The photo album provides a visual record of Frances Wolf Galloway’s life at Bowling Green State University from 1945-1949. Included are scenes of university buildings and grounds, photographs of her friends, sorority sisters, and herself. Newspaper clippings that reference her friends and herself are also included throughout the album.

The loose documents of James Livingstone Galloway include two Alpha Tau Omega publications, his Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity Card, a copy of school newspaper clippings regarding Bowling Green student strike (October 1949), Spring 1950 Commencement program and his diploma (Bachelor of Arts).

The second complete scrapbook in the collection is comprised of pictures and articles from the Sentinel Tribune in August of 1970 to commemorate the Wood County Sesquicentennial Celebration. Also included is a 1970 brochure produced by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce highlighting the many attributes of the Bowling Green, Ohio community.

Together, these documents provide a glimpse at life at Bowling Green State University during the mid-20th century. These papers would be of interest to anyone researching college student life in the 1940s, Delta Gamma sorority or Greek Life at Bowling Green State University, and women’s history.
