Scope and Contents
The George B. Clemans collection consists of research files and interviews assembled by Dr. Clemans when writing a history of the chemistry department at Bowling Green State University. The materials were used in the production of Clemans' book: Chemistry 100: A Centennial History of the Chemistry Department at Bowling Green State University.
The chapter research files include research notes, copies of course catalogs, departmental and personal correspondence, newspaper articles and photographs. The correspondence with Paul Obringer include information about the book's publication format and logistics. Reminiscences by faculty and staff, which provide a personal perspective, are captured through handwritten transcripts and audio tapes of interviews.
Biographical / Historical
Dr. George B. Clemans is a retired emeritus professor of chemistry at Bowling Green State University where he taught from 1967-1998. He holds degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Duke University. He was a W.B. King Visiting Professor at Iowa State University. He also taught at the University of Arkansas and Duke University.

Access to one of the audio-taped interviews is restricted until 2021. There are no known access restrictions on the remainder of the collection.
