Collection Organization

This collection contains 84 bound volumes of meteorological observations performed at the National Weather Service office in Cleveland, Ohio from 1870 to 1948. The observations range in format from printed forms with handwritten entries to notebooks filled with extensive comments, handwritten or in typescript. The 13.5 cubic feet of volumes record data on wind direction and speed, temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, cloud conditions, and other weather information. Although the reporting formats have similarities, there are seven separate document types identified for description due to variations in compilation techniques for daily and monthly reports.
