Collection Overview
Abstract
In honor of the 2023 100th anniversary of the BGSU Marching Falcons, Bowling Green State University's College of Musical Arts, Music Library and Bill Schurk Sound Archives, and Center for Archival Collections collaborated to create the Bowling Green State University Bands Collection. BGSU Bands Collection materials continue to be added to the collection, and include records transferred from the Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts and University Advancement, as well as private donations. Collection materials include photographs, scrapbooks, correspondence, audio and video recordings, compilation books, trophies and awards, helmets, a Band varsity letter, a color guard uniform, T-shirts, hats, and memorabilia, dating from 1935-2023. The over 25 cubic foot collection features the BGSU Marching Falcons, Concert Band, University Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Athletic Band.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Center for Archival Collections acquired the BGSU Bands collection in a series of records transfers and a donation from 2023-2024. The initial transfer of materials arrived from the Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts via the Music Library and Bill Schurk Sound Archives in Spring 2023. Additional records and a donation arrived from the College of Musical Arts in September 2023, October 2023, and January 2024. An addition from University Advancement arrived in September 2023.
Processing Information
This collection was processed by Zachary Bermudez, College of Musical Arts Graduate Student, 2022-2024. Early processing occurred at the Music Library and Bill Schurk Sound Archives before the initial College of Musical Arts transfer arrived at the Center for Archival Collections.
