The records of the Farmers and Citizens Banking Company consist of minutes, stock certificates, correspondence, FHA contracts and plans, as welle as ledgers and registers documenting the expenses and statements of the business between 1910 and 1962.

Scope and Contents

The records document the transactions of the Board of Directors, with minutes covering 1910-1940 and much of the early correspondence concerning the actions of the Board. Bank correspondence ranges from 1910-1950, but is complete only for the years 1911-1917 and 1930-1940. Stock certificates are complete from 1910-1940.

Also included are records documenting the sale of stock, loans, FHA transactions, commercial ventures, sale of bonds, and deposits, as well as exepnse accounts and statement books.

Biographical / Historical

On August 11, 1910, the Board of Directors of the Farmers and Citizens Banking Company, of Huron County in Milan, Ohio, met to begin the operations of the newly established bank. The Farmers and Citizens' Banking Company is assumed to have been incorporated under the laws of the state in approximately 1910 and continued its operations until approximately 1940 or 1941 when it joined with the Erie County Bank of Vermilion, Ohio.
