Delta Psi Kappa, Alpha Pi Chapter records

The Alpha Pi collection provides insight into the formation, operation, and functions of the Bowling Green State University (BGSU) chapter of Delta Psi Kappa from 1949 to 1993. The Records series contains details of the chapter’s history from the initial founding certificate to minutes, finances, constitutions, and correspondence with the national sorority. These records include chapter and BGSU advisor manuals and the handwritten Chapter Ritual Book. There is also a focus on events held by the chapter, including the Convention Banquet, Jump Rope for Heart, and Career Day. Several files are dedicated solely to the pledge process.

Additionally, the collection holds publications by Delta Psi Kappa – including the Psi Kap Shield newsletter and The Foil. Other publications focus on news related to physical education majors.

Finally, the collection contains two handmade scrapbooks dating from 1967-1978 and 1978-1981, respectively, documenting the chapter’s school year. The Chapter Scrapbooks feature photographs and news clippings from various pledge and banquet events throughout the year. Another scrapbook is dedicated entirely to the Kappa Lambda Petition from 1949-1952 to form a chapter of Delta Psi Kappa at Bowling Green State University. Remaining loose scrapbook materials from the collection are filed separately at the end of the series
