Biographical / Historical
The BGSU Student Consumer Union (SCU) was created in 1975 to better inform BGSU students, staff, and faculty about local consumer affairs. Its main goal was to inform the campus community of where it could obtain goods and services in Bowling Green at the most competitive prices, as well as educate students on how to be responsible consumers. The SCU also acted as a liaison between the student body and the community at large, and often intervened on students' behalf when dealing with local landlords or business owners. The SCU communicated with students through various publications and promotional items, and also had its own column in the BG News, Consumer Corner. The Student Consumer Union became inactive in the late 1980s.
