The papers of Dr. Janis Pallister concentrate predominantly upon her writings: Her dissertation, books, articles, book reviews, and poetry. There is an especially heavy focus on her translations of other’s poetry from primarily French and some from Spanish. To effectively use segments of the collection, researchers should have a familiarity with the French language. Dr. Pallister’s many notes and edits accompanying her works provide researchers with insights into her creative process, her views, and the depth to which she studied various topics especially French language, history, and culture. Her passionate feeling for the subject is evident within her writing.

For those interested in Dr. Pallister’s academic accomplishments there is a lengthy resumé which details all aspects of her career, her complete writings, and her many honors. Clippings and articles about her can also be found among her papers. Reviews of her works are also available. Very little is included about her personal life or family. One very useful work, however, in her Personal Files, is entitled, Sister to Sister: Letters Written by Fannie Reed to Her Twin Sister Eliza Crawford, 1894-1904. This booklet documents some aspects of Dr. Pallister’s maternal grandmother’s life with photos and references made to the family. The work was edited with biographical information and notes by Dr. Pallister.
