Connections, Toledo’s Newspaper for Women was first published in September and October of 1978. Fifty-two volumes of the bi-weekly women’s newspaper were printed from the first edition, published October 26, 1978, to the last in April 1983. Under the direction of Suzanne White Yeager, Patricia Kirchnew Appold and Suzanne Dotts Bocciarelli, the newspaper focused on a variety of subjects pertaining to both domestic and professional women. Home, education, consumerism, employment, health, sports, money, law, reviews, entertainment and religion were key themes within the Connections series, which aimed to provide readers with lifestyle information that supported women's roles as major consumers and decision makers.
