The records of Neibling Post no. 20, G.A.R., consist primarily of minute books covering the years 1879-1882 and 1889-1926, financial ledgers, and loose reports. The records of the Neibling Post 190, WRC, consists primarily of minute books from 1898-1905 and 1911-1919, financial ledgers from 1887-1898 and 1911-1919, and cash books from 1886-1919.

The minutes of the Post offer a record of organizational and financial business transacted at meetings, including lists of officers and committee appointments, with an occasional reference to patriotic observances, such as Memorial Day, Decoration Day, and Flag Day. Minutebook entries in later years are dominated with reports of deaths and funerals of members up to the dissolution of the post.

The loose reports in the collection consist primarily of GAR Adjutant Reports from 1880-1916. These give a good record of membership admissions, suspensions, and resignations, along with the regiments and terms of service of the individuals.

Some records of transfer or of member death from other GAR posts are included from Posts 706 (Chicago), 24 (Bond), 154 (McComb), and 66 (Choate).

Printed materials in the collection include the Ohio GAR Grand Encampment reports from 1899-1901 and 1903, GAR ritual books, and songbooks. Some oversize material includes a chart of the various corps badges in 1865, a commemorative graphic listing members of the 10th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, a photo from an undated Neibling Post reunion, and a copy of the 1879 Post charter.
