Scope and Contents

This collection consists entirely of booklets filled with yearly program information (1909-1997).

Unfortunately, the yearbooks lack the details that may be desirable for scholarly research and are comprised of only the titles of presentations, the names of the presenters, and the club order of business, such as roll call. Up until the 1963-1964 season, the Mental Culture Club picked a yearly theme and would periodically present lectures on the topic. Examples of themes include American Arts, the History of Asia, and American Literature. At the start of the 1964-1965 season, the yearly theme was always miscellaneous.

Biographical / Historical

The Mental Culture Club of Pemberville, Ohio, was organized in 1901 and became affiliated with the Lakeside Federation of Women’s Clubs in 1924. The club stressed the importance of womanly fellowship and self-improvement through learning.
