Company History

The Hancock Brick and Tile Company was started by Daniel E. Child, a resident of Findlay Ohio. He was born in 1843 on a farm in Lorain, OH. After two natural disasters, and the deaths of his two partners, George Dorney and John Murray, Daniel E. Child bought out their shares and started the Hancock Brick and Tile Company in 1903. The company became incorporated in 1905. It is currently in existence under the name of HANCOR in Findlay, Ohio, after being merged in 1974. The name change occurred in 1974. Instead of selling bricks, HANCOR now provides pipe, drainage, and tile services and supplies. After being owned by members of the Child family for 99 years, the company was sold to Frederick Kremer Jr.
