The collection (1831-1991) consists of record books, minutes, church histories and newsclippings all of which provide details on the life of this church and its members. The United Church of Christ first organized with the merger in 1920 of the German Evangelical Church and the Presbyterian Church in Monroeville, Ohio. In 1932, the United Church of Christ merged with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Monroeville and formed the Congregational Community United Church of Christ. Thus this collection contains record books from all of the churches which were part of these two mergers. The record books contain such membership information as baptisms, marriages, funerals and admittance/dismissals lists, as do the early minutes.

Biographical / Historical

The Unied Church of Christ first organized with the merger in 1920 of the German Evangelical Church and the Presbyterian Church in Monroeville, Ohio. In 1932, the United Church of Christ merged with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Monroeville and formed the Congregational Community United Church of Christ. Thus this collection contains record books from all of the churches which were part of these two mergers (see Order of Microfilming). The record books contain such membership information as baptisms, marriages, funerals and admittance/dismissals lists, as do the early minutes.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The records of the Congregational Community Church, United Church of Christ, Monroeville, Ohio were transferred for microfilming to the Center for Archival Collections, Bowling Green State University on January 3, 1992, with the cooperation of Joyce Schaefer, church historian.
