Biographical / Historical

St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center was dedicated on June 21, 1918. It was placed under the care and supervision of the Sisters of Mercy. A new wing was added in 1950 that doubled the bed capacity of the hospital.

There is a seventy (70) year access restriction on baptism and marriage records. No restrictions apply to the remainder of this collection.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The records of St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, which include Mercy Hospital, 1919 - 1996 and St. Vincent Hospital, 1856- 2002, were transferred for microfilming to the Center for Archival Collections in April 2002, with the cooperation of Janet Norton of St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
