They cover the personal and professional life of Robert M. Guion and his involvement with the field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology. The items trace the path of Dr. Guion’s career as an academic, researcher, and consultant. Due to his lifelong involvement in his field, the materials also allow researchers to trace the evolution of the field through the decades represented.

Biographical / Historical

Robert M. Guion (1924-2012) joined the Bowling Green State University faculty in 1952. He served a term as chair of the psychology department and was instrumental in the development of the Industrial Psychology program at the university. Following his retirement as a Distinguished University Professor, Dr. Guion continued to spend his time working to advance his field. Dr. Guion was heavily involved in professional psychology associations and related work; he edited the Journal of Applied Psychology for a five year period and served as the president of two Association for Psychological Science divisions and the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology, also chairing the Board of Scientific Affairs for the former. Dr. Guion was also the author and co-author of several texts that were considered to be influential in the field of Industrial-Organizational Psychology, some of which are still in use in the classroom.
