Abstract The collection is comprised of birth, baptismal, confirmation, communion, marriage, and death records, some of which are written in German, and contained in nineteen record books kept by Reverend Henry Lang (1852-1890). The earliest information can be found in the church record books which date from 1843-1941. The collection (1869--1980) consists of membership registers including records of baptisms, confirmations, marriages and funerals; congregational and council meeting records; financial records; Sunday School, Luther League and Women's Missionary Society records; and, miscellaneous material on building drives, dedications and church histories.

Scope and Contents

The St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Collection consists of three Record Books. Each book contains baptismal, marriage, death and assorted other records. Inclusive dates are 1833-1994.

The St. John's Evangelical United Brethren Church Collection consists of three (3) record books. These volumes provide fairly comprehensive vital records (birth, marriage and death) for the years between 1921-1997. Some membership records in volume two (1956-1986) contain dates prior to the inclusive dates given for the collection. These dates were not used as inclusive as they were obviously transcribed.
