Collection largely consists of scores of polkas and other dance music, as well as popular songs used by the Johnnie Ogle Lederhosen band in performances, possibly in the Santa Barbara, CA area. In addition there are song lists that hint at the group's repertoire, range, and performance habits. Of note are the few handwritten scores, likely composed or arranged by band members.

Biographical / Historical

John Ogle was born in Lima, Ohio on December 14, 1920 to Ben and Anna Ogle. After returning from service in WWII, he and his wife Ruth moved fo California. He was an avid musical performer as a child, was an integral part of the Army Band, and went on to form the Johnnie Ogle Lederhosen Band and become the director of the Holy Cross Men's Choir in Santa Barbara, California. Ogle passed away at his home in Grants Pass, OR in February 2016.
