John Boland Papers
Collection Organization
The collection is comprised of two main series. The first is a collection of correspondence between Boland and Derek Gardner, his literary agent. The correspondence is mostly business-related, including the negotiation of publishing contracts and the potential adaptation of a Boland book (The Catch) into a film.
The second series contains manuscripts of fiction and non-fiction writing by Boland. This includes a non-fiction article titled "Tell Us Their I.Q.", and an unpublished manuscript titled Vino, as well as the manuscripts for the published works Counterpol and Counterpol in Paris.
This collection will be of interest to those with an interest in Boland's work as well as those studying the business of being a professional genre fiction writer in the mid-20th century.
