Biographical / Historical

Martha Anne Guice Wingate was born on September 4, 1943, in Savannah, Georgia. She married Francis H. Webb on December 31, 1962. They have three children. She was divorced in February 1984. On May 25, 1985, she married T. Russell Wingate, a poet. Wingate received a B.S. from Texas A and I University in 1967, and a M.A. from Texas Woman's University in 1981. She attended the University of Houston during 1984-1985, where she began work on a doctorate.

Martha Anne Guice Wingate has worked as a feature writer for the Albany Journal, Albany, Georgia. Additionally, she has worked in various police departments as an identification officer and supervisor and as an intelligence specialist in the United States Naval Reserve. Her expertise has been requested by numerous federal agencies including the FBI, the Postal Inspection Service, and the Marine Corps CID. Since 1984, she has been a full-time writer.

Wingate is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. She and her husband are part-time Project Coordinators of the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation.
