Biographical / Historical
Emilie McGee, writing under her maiden name, Emilie Richards, is the author of more than 70 published books. The majority of her books have been romances, but she has also written women's fiction, and mysteries as Elimie Richards. McGee was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1948, but spent her childhood growing up in Florida. In 1969, she married a minster by the name of Michael McGee and raised several children with him. McGee holds a B.A. in American Studies from Florida State University and a M.S. in Family Development from Virginia Tech.
Before writing full-time, McGee spent her time working for humanitarian causes. She has experience as a mental-health therapist, has served as a parent services coordinator for Head Start, and volunteered for AmeriCorps VISTA.
McGee began working on her first book, Brendan’s Song, in 1983 and it was picked up and published as a Silhouette Romance in 1985. Since then she has written for both Silhouette and Harlequin, and currently is published under Harlequin's MIRA imprint.
McGee has won several awards for her books, including the Romance Writers of America's Janet Dailey Award for The Trouble With Joe, and the RITA Award for Dragonslayer.
