The Lucetta L. Hynnes Papers house the manuscript and set of proofs for her second novel (written as Caroline Light), Minor Royalty, as well as correspondence between her and her editor. The letters are the strength of this collection for, containing information pertinent to the business and editorial aspects of publication, they address hidden aspects of the writing and publishing process that are normally left invisible but always present between the lines.

Biographical / Historical

Lucetta L. Hynnes (1905-2006) was born on August 25, 1905 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1949, she and her husband Robert moved to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, where they lived the rest of their lives. A self-professed life long reader, Hynnes did not begin writing until her 70s, and using the pen name Caroline Light published her first novel A Gift in Secret in 1986, at the age of 81. Her second novel, Minor Royalty, also written as Caroline Light, was published in 1988.

Lucetta Hynnes passed away on April 7, 2006 at the age of 100.
