Scope and Contents

The collection consists of programs and related materials for science fiction and filk music conventions from the 1970s through 2012. The materials were accumulated by Robert "Buck" Coulson and his wife, Juanita Coulson. The conventions represented here are local, regional and international in scope. Included are schedules, panel and event descriptions, voting forms, and more.

Biographical / Historical

Robert "Buck" Coulson (1928-1999) and Juanita Coulson (1933- ) are American science fiction and fantasy writers as well as prominent in the filk music and fan communities. For 33 years the couple edited the fanzine Yandro, which was nominated for a Hugo Award every year from 1958-1967. Buck and Juanita were prolific filk song writers, which Juanita often sang at conventions. Buck Coulson passed away in 1999 after a long illness. Juanita Coulson has continued to write prose and songs as well as performing.

The bulk of the materials in this manuscript collection were accumulated by Juanita Coulson after her husband's death.
