The Borton family papers is a collection of 216 letters in two boxes, box 1 containing photocopies of the original letters and box 2 containing transcripts of the same.

Family correspondence, some with transcripts, of Clay family ancestors, including Stevens, Sindel, Tappan, Fisher, and Wood families. Includes Civil War era correspondence of James D. Fisher while serving with Co. F, 67th O.V.I.

Order book including casualty lists from Winchester, Va. and Fort Wagner, SC, reports of deceased soldiers and their effects, and an accounting of members of the regiment taken prisoner. Volume later in the possession of Dr. John H. Whitehead of Bowling Green, Ohio.
