Biography

FilkCon was the first pure filk con and ran irregularly from 1979 until 1986. It lacked a recurring location and committee, which did not tend to foster continuity. Individual runnings of FilkCon spawned filk cons with more continuity, particularly Bayfilk, ConChord, and OVFF. “FilkCon” became merely a secondary name applied to unrelated filk cons, then was dropped entirely in the mid-1980s.
