Biography

Arisia is a Boston-area, volunteer-run science fiction convention which began in 1990, named for a planet in the Lensman novels by E. E. "Doc" Smith. The name was chosen in response to an older Boston-area con, Boskone, which took the typical ending for a convention—con—and then altered the spelling to match the name of an organization in the Lensmen books.

Scope and Contents

The Arisia Science Fiction Convention is a yearly sci-fi convention held in Boston, MA. It was started in 1990 and is organized by the Arisia Corporation, a non-profit group. The convention is still being held today and features a variety of activities and panels.
