Four Civil War era letters, written by an officer serving in Co.A, 49th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, with three letters written post-war when he worked for the Freedmen's Bureau. Includes typed transcripts and photocopies of newspaper obituaries.

The Samuel O. Chamberlain papers consist of Civil War era personal correspondence from 1861-1865 and post-war personal correspondence, some pension information, transcribed letters, and printed material from 1868-1925.

The Sarah V. Dicken papers consist of original letters, photocopies, and transcripts of a series of Civil War era and late 19th century letters, primarily to and from Sarah Dicken, with some added genealogical information provided by the donor. The collection mostly spans the pre-war and post-war period from 1854 through 1898.
